ARTIST’S SELF-PORTRAITS 1/4
Artists have used self-portraits for centuries to explore their own identity, showcase their skills, and leave a permanent mark on history. Before the Renaissance, artists rarely depicted themselves, usually blending into the background of large religious paintings as anonymous onlookers. However, the invention of high-quality glass mirrors in the 15th century changed everything.
